History
The most important milestones describe our story since Save the Grain started in 2017. With competitions for funding and trips to our project countries, we are working towards our vision. But read for yourself what we have achieved in the last years.

Trip to Senegal

1st Place at Race to Feed the Planet in Puerto Rico
We gathered a lot of impressions, met interesting people and, most imporantly, came into contact with Enactus Senegal for the first time.

Travel to Guinea-Bissau
2021
October
Start of Cooperation with Guinea-Bissau
Through contact with a German professor in Guinea-Bissau, we were able to establish cooperation with his local foundation. Besides Togo, this is now the second location of the project.

Construction and testing of our Solar Dryer
We installed the model of our Solar Dryer in Germany in order to collect data. We can already say, that we were able to achieve a significant chimney effect as a result of the difference in temperature achieved

Hult Prize 2021 - Food for Good
We had the chance to participate in this years Hult Prize Challenge Food for Good. During two digital accelerator phases we got into contact with start-up managers and experts to work on our concept and expand our network.
2020
December
2nd place at Hult Prize 2020 OnCampus
In 2020, the motto of the Hult Prize was Bold Businesses for a Better Planet. With our pitch we won the second place at the OnCampus Round in Cologne.
November
The Enactus Startup Accelerator
In November 2020, Save the Grain took part in the Enactus Startup Accelerator program, short ESA, where we had the opportunity to pitch our project. We won a sponsorship award and the Gexsi Community Award.
Participation at the Enactus World
After winning the Enactus National Cup, we had the honour to present our project at the World Cup.

We won the National Cup
We are very proud to announce that the Enactus Team of the University of Cologne won the National Cup 2020 with our project being one of two projects presented! The National Cup is a yearly competition between all Enactus teams in Germany.

Winter
Cooperation with Technical University in Cologne
In cooperation with the Technical University in Cologne, we redesigned and optimized our Solar Dryer.
May & July
Participation at the Innovation Race for Sustainability
At the Innovation Race for Sustainability we scored first place on the national level in May 2019. So we got to pitch in Frankfurt alongside international teams in July 2019, where we scored the third place from out of five contestants.

Our first Trip to Togo
During our first journey to Togo, we met our local partners in Datcha in person. Together, we built the first prototype of our Solar Dryer.
